Now, one of his second cousins hopes churches can also help launch a Presley into the Mississippi Governor’s Mansion. But while appearing in sanctuaries, the candidate hoping to unseat Republican incumbent Gov. Tate Reeves is singing a partisan tune.
I'm a long-time Baptist and not quite so long-time Democrat, but I emphatically say I do not conflate the two. For a much shorter time, I called myself a Yellow Dog Democrat. I AGREE WITH YOUR CONCERN ABOUT PRESLEYS ACTIONS. I STILL BELIEVE HE IS A GREAT CANDIDATE BUT DISAGREE WITH HIS USE OF THE PULPIT TO CAMPAIGHN. HE COULD FIND AFTER WORSHIP HOURS NOT DURING WORSHIP. I'M DISAPPOINTED IN A DEM. DOING THIS AND SUPPORT YOR DESCRIPTIONS AND CONCERNS.
Great read. I too am afraid that more and more political rallies will take place at Sunday service. Keep using your place as a member of the religious press to point it out and prick our conscience if we go astray. Also, loved the Elvis song references sprinkled in.
