Yes, I'm aware of the silly argument that pits sympathy against empathy as if only sympathy is biblical. Sympathy is good. Empathy is better. And Jesus showed empathy so that does show the claims that it's a "sin" to be wrong. If you don't like it, take it up with Jesus ;)
Most critics of “empathy” will contrast it with “sympathy,” and give reasons why sympathy is better.
You skip all that, say, “Empathy! Because Jesus!” and think you’ve settled the matter. All reflection safely averted.
