I got into an argument with a state senator on Tuesday. I thought something like that might occur since I went to testify against a Christian Nationalist bill in a Missouri legislative committee chaired by a Christian Nationalist politician I’ve tangled with before.
I really appreciate your commentary on testifying about prayers in schools. The Christian Nationalist version of Christianity in America is just about as accurate as the Lost Cause in describe the noble and valiant activities of the Confederacy to get them reunited with the North after the Civil War (also abandoning the newly freed Black people in the South to the violence they committed to prove they were right.) PPRI recent report finds, "Roughly one in three Americans are Christian nationalists or sympathetic to the cause, according to a new survey." according to FAVs news. It is good to have you in the trenches in the battle for truth. I am also very glad to have found A Public Witness on Substack, good honest reporting. Living in NE Washington state we are keenly aware of the power of the movement with Wilson's church in Moscow and other influences in many churches around our area. Keep up the good work.

Second, with reference to the two senators, as the song goes - "I wouldn't buy a used car from him." I certainly wouldn't play golf, cards or any other game with either one of them. We have learned from the encounter and the simple language of the bill that both of these senators suffer from a sever lack of moral and ethical standards. They are openingly and actively proposing and advancing the concept that MIssouri's Public School Students be taught falsehoods about our history. The senators stock in trade is a lying tongue. A review of Proverbs 6:16-19 - most applicable to the two senators on a number of items - shows that they are engaging in conduct which the God of Israel (and Christianity) finds to be "detestable" (NIV) or an "abomination" in the Tanakh.
