Here’s my opinion about why he did this: The thin-skinned-hold-a-grudge-at-all-costs trump was insulted during his last term and didn’t attend any of the Kennedy Center events. He had started getting booed in public. That scared him (like being forced to look in the truthful mirror of self-awareness) and that hurt his feelings. He announced that he wouldn’t be attending Kennedy Center Honors stating that he “didn’t want to make it about him and not those being honored” (which was BS). The Kennedy Center basically actually THANKED HIM FOR NOT COMING which really hurt his feelings. I doubt very seriously if he did this current takeover for any philosophical or political reason (he’s too selfish for that) – initially. But the fact that it plays into the whole authoritarian ruler image and makes him look like a tough guy definitely stokes his fragile ego.

White churches need to start making these kinds of sacrifices that black churches have been making for years...
I hope that groups that have cancelled, including church groups, will consider moving their performances to DAR Constitution Hall, if it's available.
