I reminded some of my outraged family that had 2024 not been a leap year, Easter would have fallen on April 1. But I digress. I am weary of the claims of "Christian persecution" in this country. I am tired of ministers preaching hate against other children of God and inspiring fear in their congregations. I am wondering if we are reading the same Bible. And I am definitely tired of hearing from politicians who claim to follow Christ but who are too quick to spread gossip and falsehoods without looking at the log in their own eye. And that goes for certain ministers also. As I said, I am tired.

Thanks for another most informative and thought provoking article. Stupidity by our Fundamentalist, White Christian Nationalists never ceases to amaze me. These Christians who get all in a fit about how a day which originated in a fertility celebration for a pagan goddess, that was taken over by Christians, with all the fertility trappings - eggs, bunnies, chicks - is observed by different folks is quite laughable. Especially, when you understand that if we Christians really wanted to celebrate Resurrection Day - the day on which Jesus was brought back to life - we would be looking toward the end of April, not March 31st. Passover this year is on Monday, April 22nd. This corresponds to the Thursday on which Jesus observed the meal, instituting the Lord's Supper (the one and only day on which Christians would observe the event to be historically correct). Therefore, Tuesday, April 23rd would correspond to the Friday on which Jesus was crucified. Meaning that, historically, Christians should be celebrating Jesus' resurrection on Thursday, April 25th. Can you just imaging doing that, all the folks who only turn out to go to church on Easter or Christmas would have to take a day off work to go worship on a weekday. Of course, that is never going to happen. I am still at a loss as to how any of those self-righteous politicians and preachers were harmed one iota by anything that was done with regard to the April 1st Easter Egg Roll at the White House. They weren't! Whatever the problems may be relative to the Christian faith in America, they have nothing to do with any politician or any government entity. Jesus actually gave a very specific teaching which is applicable - Remove that huge piece of wood from your own eye, before you seek to remove the tiny, tiny, speck of dust fro someone else's eye. The problems, faults and deficiencies of Christianity, as well as any other faith, lies on their own door steps. So Fundies, stop compaining about the fertility sysmbols and start learning and living out the simple truths which the Rabbi from Galilee taught us. I do hope everyone had a Happy Easter however, you celebrated it!
